Hailing from Rhinebeck NY, The Decoys began as a duo between Singer/Guitarist Michael Mondello (Mo) and Bassist Chris Davison (Slim), later joined by Mandolin/Harmonica player Chuck Jacob (Harpo). Recently the band has been rounded out by Drummer Jamie Hurst (JR), and Singer/Guitarist Chris Karson (KMan), resulting in a powerhouse lineup of former members of some of Rhinebeck’s most notable bands.
Led by Mondello, The Decoys delivers an upbeat, fun, freewheeling jam-oriented performance of popular rock and roll songs in a refreshing Americana/Bluegrass style that the band affectionately refers to as Rockgrass. The Decoys are influenced by The Kinks, The Stones, Petty, The Beatles, and The Dead, but you will also hear an array of songs from the 80s and 90s up to current period with a spontaneous approach that keeps the crowd — as well as the band — guessing as to what will happen next!
